Build an XML sitemap for your website through the usage of an XML sitemap generator. Upload it into the same folder as your home page. Edit the robot.txt file to point to the sitemap page. Sitemaps are search engine favourites. This is quick way to help your site improve its rank without disturbing other elements of the site.

Flash is undeniably a good way in beautifying your website . However, you need to be prudent when implementing a flash in your website. Search engines have the capability to index Flash content in today’s internet world, however, it is an uphill task for them to index flash content. Ensure that your site is solidly optimized for a search engine. Therefore, avoid using any flash features . If there is a need to include a flash, try to minimize the usage of it.

Google has fast become the world’s most popular search engine. Therefore, you need to ensure that people can find valuable information on your company via Google. If someone performs a google search for your company and did not manage to find any information related to your company , they will presume that your company is non existent. A wonderful method of getting your website being seen would be to purchase advertisement spaces on Google searches.

In order to improve search engine optimization, ensure you only post the same article on your website under one URL- don’t duplicate it in different places. This is primarily because , search engines rank a website , based on how many other websites link to a specific URL , and having more than one URL will damage this effect significantly.

Choose an easy to remember domain name relating to your product line. For instance, “wotsitsareus.com” works well for a site selling wotsits. Not only will it be easier for customers to find your website, but search engines will pick up on the related words to direct a lot more traffic your way.

Ensure you are not using large text on your website Large text will make your website looks simple. Try to stick to size 12 font that is clear and very easy to read. This will help to yield happy customers.

Google + explained

Click here to view the embedded video.

Using the right keywords in the appropriate places is definitely essential These keywords should be placed in strategic spots where web crawlers take their data from. Web crawlers typically collect data from the following locations of a website : the titles, URLs, image names, as well as page headers. Although there are many other places too, you should focus your work on these tactical places.

Find some SEO forums that take site review requests. Join in the forums diligently and then request fellow members to review your website. When a stranger visits your website , they are able to assess it critically without any tinge of emotion. Therefore, they are able to stress on the mistakes and give you tips on improving your website’s search engine optimization.

It is vital for you to perform research on a search engine optimization company background as well as the to assess on the various strategies which the company employs prior to engaging the service of a search engine optimization company. You should always ask questions. Some good questions to ask include things that have to do with the risks of using their company’s service .

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/importance-keywords"></g:plusone>

Keywords are essential in the development of any online business. An unhelpful term in many regards, because a keyword also includes multiple words. The concept of a keyword is a reference to what people type into search engines like Google in order to return results that they are interested in. Therefore, “baseball” is a keyword but also so is “used baseball bat for sale in Colarado”.

Getting keywords right at the start of any website creation project is fundamental to succeeding or failing. It is vital to select keywords that people actually look for and build your website around them, before commencing your website promotion. If your keyword phrase is searched for five times a month, it’s not really worth it. If it is searched for 240 million times a month it may be too competitive. It’s also extremely important to understand that there are buying keywords and non-buying keywords.

Building a site around ‘free Internet marketing e-book’ and then suggesting to people that they buy the e-book and not offering a free e-book is likely to fail. The visitor to that website is specifically looking for a free product and is therefore exceedingly unlikely to pay for one.

Likewise, someone looking for ‘buy e-book on Internet marketing’ is someone very likely to be interested in immediately purchasing something. This is a strong buying keyword.

It is not only important to understand that there are buying and non-buying keywords. It is also vital to understand that you must operate in a niche, where people will pay good money for immediate solutions to urgent and pressing problems. This last sentence is in fact the key to successful Internet marketing. If problems are not pressing or urgent, people are unlikely to want to pay for a solution. This however does not necessarily mean urgent in a life-threatening sense. It can mean urgent to that person, so this can include products about dog training or golf swings.

It’s vital to understand that in these hobby markets, people will pay very large sums of money to improve that particular hobby as their self-esteem is integrally linked often to their successful pursuit of it.

Once you have found a niche area of people who will pay good money to solve pressing problems that they perceive they have, and you have found regularly searched for keywords in sufficient numbers, these are the keywords you must build a product around. This will be the foundation of your successful website. In other words, you are building a ‘shop’ in the area of town where people are looking for your products, and where people are walking. Too many people build the equivalent of a website out of town with no visitors selling products no one wants.

Keyword research, therefore, if done correctly and accurately, can make all the difference between a successful and a failing website, and is a most important part of search engine optimisation.

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/converting-visitors-buyers"></g:plusone>

You can get 1 million visitors to your website a month, but if none of them buy your products or services, or click on your advertising links or your banners, you won’t make a penny for your efforts. That’s why traffic is not enough. Essential is converting these website visitors to buyers.

And that is often harder than generating the traffic in the first place. Anyone can generate traffic. You can optimize your site properly and buy it. But traffic conversion is an altogether different ballgame.

The most common mistake people make when creating websites which almost always fail, is they fail to understand that the way to convert visitors to buyers on a website is to provide solutions that cost money to certain classes of people who will pay to have that solution to that pressing problem.

This is of course the foundation behind all successful keyword research but it is often a mistake made by many people who then fail. It’s essential to understand that many visitors to websites come with different purposes in mind. Essential of course is providing a solution to an urgent, pressing problem. But even visitors with that urgent pressing problem, who are seeking a solution may be looking for a free solution rather than a paid one. If your site appeals to the freebie seekers, then you will not generate any buyers.

It is therefore essential when generating traffic and building your site to have clearly in mind what kind of visitors you want, and who will buy your solution or your proposed solution. Sites like Quantcast can often give useful information to allow you to target the right socio-economic, gender and age groups.

Often, however, the key to converting visitors to buyers is to understand that your visitors are much more likely to buy from your website or your newsletter if they know you, like you and they trust you. Once you have developed these three essential ingredients then many more people who visit your sales material will purchase from you.

Statistics often quoted suggest it takes seven visits to a website by someone before they purchase. This may not be necessarily right but the reality is that few people will buy at first visit to a site. However, if they have been provided with great content, perhaps through interactive social media experiences, and your website is attractive and entertaining, then you are automatically placed in pole position to turn that visitor into a paying customer.

Like all aspects of Internet and affiliate marketing, the essential time to plan these concepts is right at the start of your project, before you have even built your website. But by understanding your visitors needs, satisfying those needs in a trusting and friendly environment, backed up with social proof and social media, can be a considerable head start to that process.

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/social-networks-key-online-presence"></g:plusone>

At the beginning of the 21st century, when the Internet began to develop exponentially, webpages were often static. In other words, people would come to the site and look, read and either buy or go elsewhere. However, that trend has changed dramatically and the Internet is increasingly about interaction.

Customers don’t want a passive experience, they want an involved and interactive one. That’s why forums and blogs where people comment are becoming increasingly popular.

Dominant, however, in this trend are the social network sites. King amongst the sites are Facebook and Twitter. These sites are not just about putting out a message but about proper interaction with followers, clients and friends.

Integral to using these social network sites is interaction. It’s vital to interact with people who come to your page or follow your tweets. The reason why these sites are so vital is because through that process of interaction, you can build your brand and promote your websites. In the modern free economy, as Chris Anderson defines it, a major online currency is reputation. Reputations can be made and destroyed in social networking sites.

Brand development is therefore essential in the armory of any business that wishes to succeed online. Using Twitter and Facebook, you can now interact fully with your customers and understand their wants and needs. You can provide updates as to your products and services and get feedback. You can provide surveys and questionnaires in return for incentives. You can provide quality content to the visitors of your social network pages, or the followers of your tweets, so that your followers understand that you are a man or woman to be listened to.

The point of the social network sites is not necessarily to get direct sales. But if enough people follow you and enjoy your Facebook page or your twitter tweets, then they will begin to increasingly click on your links and your recommendations. They will look at your main business pages and if they are sufficiently interested in your fan page or tweets, the likelihood is that they will be interested in your products and services.

It’s all about building customer loyalty to your brand and reputation. Through constant interaction with social network sites, you can develop that Know, Like, Trust factor, as social networking guru Tina Williams describes it.
Once your customers know you, like you, and trust you, they will unhesitatingly buy from you. That is the power of social network sites.

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/key-affiliate-marketing"></g:plusone>

Many people look for a magic button with affiliate marketing, hoping that they can simply press a button on a piece of software they install and it will generate for them thousands of dollars. This is simply a myth that panders to lazy people who probably also believe you can lose weight by sitting on a couch watching an exercise DVD.

The reality is slightly different.
There is a key to affiliate marketing. It is persistence, which in many fields of life is often the key. Most people don’t want to hear this but this is the unfortunate, or fortunate if you’re able to persist in your endeavours reality. The question as to why persistence is key is integrally linked to the reason why most people fail. The reason is this.

Affiliate marketing or Internet marketing is less of a precise science and is more often a matter of intuition, feel and skill. Some beautifully constructed websites just don’t resonate with their visitors in the correct way to make them customers. Some dreadfully constructed sites happen to resonate with the client base in a particular way that does produce lucrative sales. And some websites combine both and produce massive numbers of customers and cash.

Reducing the odds is hit and miss. It takes trial, error and practice. More often than not if you set up ten affiliate marketing website projects, eight will fail, one will break even and one would be highly successful. The key is to learn why the eight failed and while one was highly successful, but the answer often is elusive. It just happens to be that that website chimed with that particular audience at that particular time. Continued success is never guaranteed.

The key therefore is to constantly build new websites. These should be for themes where there are a ready market of people interested in the subject, and willing to spend money to solve instant problems. Those websites that are constructed must be regularly updated and kept fresh so that search engines pick them up and begin to rank them highly. This all takes time and effort. Keywords must be researched. Content must be created and posted. Websites must be updated. Websites must be optimised in both on page and off page terms. Optimists must be regularly e-mailed to be kept interested and to keep them as subscribers. Comments on the website that are legitimate must be answered. And this process is constantly evolving in markets which are changing and with changing taste and demand.

It’s never really a case of throwing up a website at the push of a button and sitting back and waiting for the cash to roll in. But the process I have shown above is not difficult. It is fairly routine and fairly mechanical. Why most people don’t bother with it is that it takes time, planning and some degree of organisation. Most people lack the skills, but the essential skill they lack is persistence. If you reckon on one site out of ten being successful, that’s a lot of work initially to create one successful project. But once you’ve created one successful one, you may find out the next sites you build 4/10 will be successful and so on. And that’s persistence. And that, is simply the key.

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/website-promotion"></g:plusone>

Some ways to promote a website:

There are almost a multitude of ways in which a website can be promoted by its owner. Here is a list of some of the best.
Clearly the best way of getting traffic to your website is to get your website ranked number one for a highly competitive keyword which lots of people search for. In those circumstances, you will get the lion share of the traffic for free. Getting to number one of course requires search engine optimization and often some good luck. However, if you can achieve it, then the results are clear.

Second best perhaps for getting instant and rapid traffic to your website is through paid advertising, so-called pay per click advertising. Although the downside of this can be the cost, a well-crafted campaign and ads that lots of people click on, going to a highly relevant and well drafted landing page can often result in you paying less per click then people who simply bid on thousands of keywords, without being too concerned as to the quality of their ads or the landing page. For quick and rapid traffic, perhaps for testing purposes, this is a great method.

A very traditional way of getting good traffic to your website is through article marketing, sometimes called bum marketing. This process can be hard work but often rewarding. Simply the owner of the website writes or has written a number of articles relevant to the theme of the website, and publishes them at well-regarded e-zines directories like EzineArticles.com or ArticleBase. This is very much a numbers game. The more articles you write, the more likely it is that people will click on links to your website.

However, this process has been made much easier these days with automated software like SENuke that can spin and blast out subtly different versions of articles to hundreds or thousands of other sites. This, combined with quality articles submitted at the major well-regarded article depositories can result in a great deal of traffic, as well as Google thinking your site is one of great pertinence to that keyword.

Other methods of promoting your website can be using sites like Facebook and Twitter. Particularly if you have a lot of friends or followers on those sites, then regularly updating them about your website’s content and news of it can result in good traffic. Twitter in particular can be great for this kind of process.

Promoting a website can often take time and effort. However, the results are clear. A website without traffic is dead and pointless but a vibrant website with thousands of visitors is likely to convert to customers and customers of course means cash.

How to get your website on page 1

<g:plusone href="http://14websites.com/recent-posts/search-engine-optimization"></g:plusone>

Search engine optimization is the process by which website owners get their site located and well-regarded by the search engines. It is the key in fact to having any traffic to your website.

Search engine optimization (or ‘SEO’ for short) is achieved in a two-way process. There is what is called on page optimization and off page optimization. Both are important, but increasingly in the last year or two, the latter has become considerably more important.

On page optimization is all about making sure your site is set up correctly. The purpose of this is to try and tell the search engine spiders or robots what your site is about, and the keywords you think it should take seriously. This can be done in a number of ways. Much depends on how your website has been designed, whether it has been written in WordPress or another content management system, or drafted with a HTML editor.

Many CMS systems like WordPress force you to construct your site in a search engine friendly manner, which is one reason why Google loves WordPress and WordPress sites are seldom blocked by Google. However, using your main keyword in your title tags, and in a header tag is often a good start, coupled with your keyword being used in anchor texts that internally link around your site.

This used to be enough several years ago to achieve good rankings. Sometimes, for keywords that are not competitive, this still can be enough. However for many sites with even the slightest competition, this is not enough.

These days, off page optimization is essential. What this essentially amounts to is back linking. A back link is a link from another site to your site using something called anchor text. This anchor text often tells a search engine what your site is about. The more links you have pointing back to your site from well-regarded websites, the more valuable your site is seen by Google for that keyword. This is sometimes called “Google juice” and the more Google juice you get, the higher your site appears to rank in the search engine results.

Back linking is often a numbers game. If your competitor sites have 200 back links, and you get 300 back links, the chances are that all other things being equal, your site will rank higher than that site. If your competitor site has 1 million links and you only have 100 links, then it’s unlikely you will be able to beat or outrank them. But it is all about quality as well as quantity. If you have a link to your site from a site that Google gives a high page rank value to, this can often be worth the equivalent of dozens of links from sites that Google considers worthless.

In order to get your site found and get traffic, in other words how to get your site on page one, both elements of search engine optimization are essential.
